On May 31, 2019, World No Tobacco Day, the artistic posters featuring international piano artist Wu Muye, international supermodel Liu Wen, and post-90s actors Wang Jia, Guan Xiaotong, Wu Lei and Zhang Zifeng to promote tobacco control were released. Through the posters themed with “Smoke-Free Youth for a Thriving China”, the advocates called for public attention on adolescent health, control of second-hand smoking and e-cigarette, ban on indoor smoking and other related health issues.
Wu Muye, one of the six advocates of tobacco control, lent his voice of “It should be melody that flows through fingertips, not cigarette smoke”, which had a strong impact on young people, highlighted the vitality and responsibility of Chinese youth and showcased the great influence of Chinese youth forces in public welfare causes.
The tobacco-control posters stimulated heated discussions on the internet and garnered global attention through the reposts from WHO, UN, UNESCO, international organizations and various media.
