On 26th May 2018, the well-known pianist Wu Muye joined the charity event in the Red Ribbon School in Linfen, Shanxi Province, China. Dressed in black suit and black sunglasses, Wu appeared as a “cool and chic brother” on the campus.
The Red Ribbon School, founded in 2006, is the only specialized school in China to welcome the HIV infected children by offering them a friendly and healthy environment for study. Wu Muye, named “ China Special Envoy for Health” by the World Health Organization, has supported the school and the AIDS Anti-Discrimination Campaign since 2017.
The 7th International AIDS Anti-Discrimination Lunch Day was held in the school. During the ceremony, Wu Muye shared his trip experience to Geneva on the 30th World AIDS Day in 2017. He travelled, lived and ate with four HIV infected mothers and children during the four-day trip, and he appealed for treating the HIV infected people with justice and no discrimination in the WHO head quarter office.
As a “World Health Organization China Special Envoy for Health”, Wu has been showing great care for the HIV infected people. During the event, Wu taught the students with some piano playing skills and invited a student to play together with him on stage. when the student failed the first time due to nervousness, he encouraged him with kindness to start over. After the show, the student expressed with great excitement, his wish to surpass the achievement of Wu one day in the future. Wu replied a warm smile with encouragement and willingness to support. After the event, Wu shared the lunch with HIV infected students. He cared for the children very gently, asking them about the food they preferred and fetching for them. The whole lunch was full of laughs and warmness! As Wu also said in the interview, “When you do not know them, you may fear. However, as long as you know more about them, you will find them the cutest angles in the world, worth your love and hug.”
