Wu Muye’s Piano Recital World Tour featuring the Complete Works of Chopin Waltzes 2019-2020 will land in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Harbin and Tianjin before the Spring Festival.

Wu Muye, international renowned pianist, was born into a family of art and graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP). His teacher is Jacques Rouvier, the master of French piano orthodox school. Wu is heralded as the Gold Finger in the European piano scene by the French newspaper Le Monde for his strong and pure spirit of classicism embedded in his piano performance. He was awarded the Perfect Piano Performing Artist Medal by the French Ministry of Culture, making him the only Chinese young pianist who has ever received such an honor in the Parisian piano world.

During his stay in France, Wu Muye published his own classical music album Wu Mu Ye and CHOPIN-LISZT. His self-titled debut album was recorded by Radio France and broadcast across the country. Wu’s exquisite and magnificent techniques have won him the reputation of Gold Finger credited by the famous French classical monthly Classica, which exerted a huge impact throughout France. After returning to China, Wu Muye launched the album Doigt D’or, which included 24 Chopin’s etudes and Chinese classical piano pieces such as My Motherland, Liuyang River and Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake. Wu Muye’s extraordinary interpretation of Chopin’s etudes not only reflects his top-notch skills, but also his thorough understanding of Chopin’s music concept “I hope my works will become battle songs”. Wu Muye believes that emotion can’t be fully expressed without skills. More sophisticated skills can convey more intense emotion. Therefore, inspired by Chopin’s expression of fierce patriotism in Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor, Wu Muye explores ways to apply mature piano skills to Chinese piano pieces and delivers amazing performances of Liuyang River and Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake that convey strong patriotism.

In October 2018, Wu Muye published the album Inspiration – Schubert’s Complete Impromptus, in which his delicate touch rendered a powerful and romantic interpretation of the crystal and graceful melody, creating an accurate replica of Shubert’s improvisation. From then on, Wu Muye embarked on the one-year Piano Recital World Tour featuring Schubert’s Complete Impromptus, attracting many classical music fans and admirers worldwide. Many fans said that Wu Muye’s exquisite performance has blasted away their traditional understanding of classical music and helped them appreciate the elegant and poetic sides of classical music.

For Wu Muye, the balance between skill and emotion is also the balance between restraint and freedom, sense and sensibility, insight and romance, which is precisely the greatest poetry of classicism. The fascinating moment of artistic elegance gushing out is when the conflicts are perfectly balanced and blended. This is how Wu Muye creates the tension and charm in his piano performance. His understanding of classical romance is accompanied by profound restraint, hence, every note is exquisitely and smoothly played as if it was an independent life. His performances recover the original nature of classicism and refine on rigid excellence, perfectly achieving the balance between restraint and freedom.

After Schubert’s complete impromptus, Wu Muye chose Chopin’s complete works of waltzes as the repertoire of his next recital tour. As a master of romanticism, Chopin applied a distinctive Mazurka style in the waltzes and integrated his strong emotion into the creation. Compared with Shubert’s impromptus, Chopin’s waltzes feature more distinct solemnity and liveliness through his ideality and fantasy, romance and discipline. The lively and exquisite waltzes by“the Poet of the Piano”Chopin and Wu Muye’s poetic performance style add radiance and beauty to each other, rekindling the charm of classical music.

On December 12, 2019, Wu Muye’s Piano Recital World Tour featuring the Complete Works of Chopin’s Waltzes will be premiered at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The recital tour will be held at world-renowned landmark theatres and romantic cities worldwide, making it a romantic journey with classical charm.

Wu Muye hopes that his interpretation of classical music could infinitely recover the original source of classical creation, revitalize the golden era and connect classical music with the present age. Classical music shall not be deemed as a high art beyond reach, but a poetic and beautiful emotional experience appreciated by the contemporary world.

The recital will feature Chopin’s complete nineteen waltzes. With excellent and skilled performance, Wu will bring out the gorgeous magnificence of waltzes as well as the great pride in them, vividly displaying the romantic poetry of Europe’s 19th century. Be it the Grande valse brillante in E-flat major, Op. 18, or the Waltz in D-flat major, Op. 64, No. 1 (also known as Minute Waltz), the performance will bring ultimate romantic audio-visual and emotional experience to the audience, immersing them in the glorious and poetic classical period.
